  1. i am African and in our culture we NEVER talk about sex. the only time mum talks to me about sex is when she tells me not to do it and to know that AIDS exists and that i will get pregnant if i do it. but at 18 i've been having sex for about a year now and i wish my parents had taught me more about it because i've made mistakes and had to learn by myself the emotional implications of it...becuase its been tough to deal without any guidance!”

“I think they just see it as quite a private topic to sort of talk about because obviously they're not, sort of open about it. Whereas myself I'm a very open person and I don't mind what I talk about. ”
